Lobbying in America: A Primer for Citizen Participation by Dr. Ralph Nurnberger, Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University
This Occasional Paper by the India Abroad Center for Political Awareness
helps provide background to the Indian American community on how they can more effectively advocate for issues that are of concern to them.
The paper starts by discussing a history of lobbying in America, then discusses current lobbying practices in Washington, moving on to a discussion of AIPAC, one of the more successful lobbies in Washington. The next chapter discusses a "how to" in lobbying for people, before finally moving on to
discuss how people can get involved in the political process and how to accomplish goals in Washington or on a local level.
