Karachi, Pakistan -- Pakistan has made no decision on the extradition of Ramzi Binalshibh, the suspected Sept. 11 plotter who was arrested last week in a joint operation by U.S. and Pakistani intelligence, officials said Sunday. Interior Minister Moinuddun Haider told The Associated Press on Sunday there was no doubt that the Mr. Binalshibh was among those taken into custody in raids here Tuesday and Wednesday, despite claims to the contrary by an Arabic language Web site.

Islamabad -- The questioning of a man believed to be a senior member of Al Qaeda who was intimately involved in planning the Sept. 11 attacks continued in Pakistan today as efforts to extradite him to the United States advanced. The German interior minister announced that his country would not request the extradition of the man, Ramzi bin al-Shibh, clearing the way for him to be turned over to the United States.

* US Rice: US to urge Pakistan to turn over September 11 suspect

Washington --The U.S. wants custody of Ramzi Binalshibh and will work with Pakistani authorities to have them hand over the suspected Sept. 11 plotter captured last week in Karachi, President George W. Bush's national security adviser said Sunday. "Oh, we will be working with the Pakistani officials to make certain that he gets to the right place," Condoleezza Rice said. "There's no doubt that the United States will want to have access to him and to have him, because this is an important breakthrough."

* Head-on bus, oil tanker collision kills 20 in Pakistan

Quetta, Pakistan -- A bus collided Sunday with an oil tanker truck near a remote southwestern town, killing at least 20 people, hospital authorities said. Seventeen people, three in the truck and 14 on the bus, died at the scene. Three other bus passengers died at the hospital at nearby Khuzdar, 160 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of Quetta, police said. The drivers of the bus and tanker truck died at the scene.

* One dead, five wounded in Pakistan bus bomb

Hyderabad, Pakistan -- One man died and five were injured when a small bomb went off inside a bus in southern Pakistan on Sunday, police and witnesses said. The bus had just left the terminal in the southern city of Hyderabad bound for Karachi when the bomb exploded. A young brother and sister were among the wounded, while one of the passengers lost his left leg, police and doctors said.

* Indian Kashmir prepares for violent vote

Srinagar, India -- Islamic militants ambushed a Kashmiri minister's car on Sunday as the Indian state appeared set for a violent start to voting in elections that are likely to do little to ease tensions with Pakistan. Two policemen died in the attack in the southern village of Boh, but Tourism Minister Sakina Itoo was not injured, officials said.

* Nine suspected rebels killed hours ahead of Kashmir vote (Philadelphia Inquirer)

Srinagar, India --Hours before the start of Kashmir's crucial elections, Indian soldiers shot and killed nine suspected Islamic rebels in a border sweep, after a key government minister survived an assassination attempt Sunday. The nine suspected rebels were killed by Indian soldiers in a fierce gun battle, an army spokesman said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The casualties are the largest in a single shoot-out in months.

Srinagar, India -- Suspected Islamic militants ambushed the well-guarded campaign convoy of the Kashmir tourism minister Sunday, leaving two members of her security unit dead and three other people injured, police said. Sakina Yatoo, who is a candidate in Kashmir elections that begin Monday, was traveling with dozens of soldiers and paramilitary forces near her home constituency of Damhal-Hanjipora when a remote-controlled bomb went off under one of the escort vehicles and an unknown number of guerrillasd fire, said T. Acharya, a spokesman for the paramilitary Border Security Force.

* Earthquake hits SE India; two killed

New Delhi -- A strong earthquake hit India's southeast early Saturday, killing at least two people and damaging some homes on the Andaman islands, officials said. The epicenter of the magnitude-6 tremor was in the sea 1,500 miles southeast of the Indian capital, said J.L. Gautam, an official at the New Delhi Meteorology Department. The first tremor was at 3:59 a.m. and was followed by several aftershocks.

* India rejects dialogue with Pakistan

New York -- Indian Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha said on Sunday the United States must do more to pressure Pakistan to stop cross-border attacks by Muslim extremists and he rejected dialogue with Islamabad until the violence abates. Days after President Bush urged the leaders of the two South Asian nuclear rivals to directly address the root problems of their dispute, Sinha said ensuring Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf adheres to his promise to end cross-border attacks on India is ``America's problem.''

* Maoists bomb Nepal minister's home, no one hurt

Kathmandu -- Maoist rebels bombed a telecommunications tower, a radio station and the house of a junior minister in Nepal late on Saturday, but nobody was hurt, a government official said. The tower and the radio station were damaged at Bara, 150 km (90 miles) south of Kathmandu. ''There was no injury,'' the official said.

New Delhi -- In the burgeoning world market for satellite launches and space services, India offers the cheapest taxi rides on its rockets. On Thursday afternoon , for a mere 15 million U.S. dollars, India launched a meteorological satellite into "geo-synchronous" transfer orbit some 36,000 kilometres above the equator using a modified version of its highly successful space workhorse, the polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV).
