VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION

To register to vote in Maryland, you must be:
a U.S. Citizen;
a Maryland resident;
18 years old by the next General Election;
not disqualified by a criminal record;
not under guardianship for mental disability.
To be considered a Maryland resident, your domicile must be in Maryland. Your domicile is the place that you consider to be your 'official' or 'permanent' home, even though it may be different from the place where you are actually living on a short-term or temporary basis. Your domicile will ordinarily be the address you use most frequently on tax returns or other government documents, driver's license, bank accounts, charge accounts, for insurance purposes, and so forth.
When may I register to vote?
Voter registration applications may be submitted to your county Board of Elections office *(http://www.elections.state.md.us/citizens/county_boards.html) or the State Board of Elections year round.
Where may I register to vote?
You may complete a Voter Registration Application in person at a county Board of Elections *(http://www.elections.state.md.us/citizens/county_boards.html) or the State Board of Elections. Voter Registration applications are also available throughout Maryland at any office of the State Department of Health, Social Services Administration, Motor Vehicle Administration, Offices on Aging and all public institutions of higher education as well as many other State Agencies.

May I register to vote by mail?
Yes. You may request a Voter Registration Application be sent to you from any county Board of Elections office *(http://www.elections.state.md.us/citizens/county_boards.html). You can also call the State Board of Elections toll free ) to leave your name and mailing address twenty-four hours a day. The completed Voter Registration Application may be delivered or mailed to your county Board of Election office or State Board of Elections.
When am I registered to vote?
You are considered a registered voter when you receive your Voter Notification Card from your county Board of Elections.
What should I do if I have changed my address or my name since the last election?
You must notify the county Board of Election office in your county of residence in writing. This can be done with a written notice, a change of address form or by completing a new Voter Registration Application *(http://www.elections.state.md.us/citizens/registration/application.html) . Change of address forms are available from the Motor Vehicle Administration of Maryland *(http://www.mva.state.md.us/).
Do I have to register for each election?
No. Registration is permanent, as long as you continue to live in the same jurisdiction and keep your address and name current with your county Board of Elections *(http://www.elections.state.md.us/citizens/county_boards.html).

POLLING PLACES
There are over 1600 polling locations in Maryland. On Election Day, you must vote at the polling place indicated on your Voter Registration Card.
