     Voter Registration Information

    Who Can Register to Vote?

    Under Missouri law, if you are a United States citizen 17 years and 6 months of age or older, you may register and vote in any election which is held on or after your 18th birthday. In addition, you must be a resident twenty-one (21) days prior to the election. The exceptions are:

  • A person who is adjudged incapacitated
  • A person who is confined under sentence of imprisonment
  • A person who is on probation or parole after conviction of a felony, until finally discharged from such probation or parole
  • A person who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor connected with the right of suffrage.

    How to Register to Vote

    Missouri election laws provide for registration by mail, at all motor vehicle registration offices, and at participating state agencies.

    For residents of the 82nd District, voter registration is available at the Creve Coeur Government Center, area libraries, and area high schools in addition to the Board of Election Commissioners office at 12 Sunnen Drive, Maplewood, Missouri Phone: 951-0100, TDD 951-0184

    Change of Address

    To avoid delays on election day, registered voters who have moved within Greene County should change their voter registration by notifying the County Clerk. Such notification may be given by:

  • Filling out the back of the voter registration card and returning it to the County Clerk's office;
  • Sending a signed letter listing old and new address;
  • Completing a "Missouri Voter Registration Application" postcard (available at the Library).

    All applications for change of address must bear the signature of the voter.

    Absentee Ballots

    If you know you will be unable to make it to the polls on Election Day, November 5, 2002, be sure your voice is heard by voting via absentee ballot! Submit an application in person or by mail to the election authority in your jurisdiction. The application request must be made in writing and must include your name, the address where you are registered, the reason for voting absentee, and the address to which the ballot should be mailed. Your written request must be received by the election authority in your jurisdiction by the Wednesday prior to Election Day. To be valid, your completed absentee ballot must be received by the election authority in your jurisdiction by 7:00 p.m., on Election Day. You may also vote absentee in person at your County Clerk's office beginning 45 days prior to Election Day.
