     VOTER INFORMATION

    Where do I vote?

    For early voting and election day voting locations, you will need to call the county clerk/elections administrator's office in the county in which you are registered. To find the number, go to: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/county.shtml and scroll to your county. You may also want to check your local newspaper for voting locations.

    How do I find out if I am registered to vote or if I am on the voter rolls in the county where I reside?

    To inquire about the status of your voter registration, call the voter registrar's office in the county in which you reside. To find the number, go to: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/votregduties.shtml and scroll to your county.

    I know that I'm registered to vote, but I can't find my voter certificate/card. Will I be able to vote without it?

    If you are a registered voter and you have lost or misplaced your voter certificate, you may vote without your certificate by providing some form of identification (such as a drivers license) and signing an affidavit at the polls. This is the procedure to follow if your voter registration is still current and your name appears on the voter rolls in your county of residence.

    I am registered to vote in my county of residence, but I moved within the county and have not yet updated my new address with my voter registrar. Where do I vote?

    If you are registered to vote and have moved within your county of registration, you may vote at your old precinct. You will be required to complete a statement of residence form before voting. This information will be forwarded to your voter registrar and you will be issued a new voter certificate. This is applicable if your voter registration is still good and your name appears on the voter rolls in your county of residence.

    I was registered to vote, but moved from my county of registration to a new county. May I still vote in the new county?

    When you move from one county to another, you must re-register in the new county of residence. If you have not yet done this, you may be eligible to vote a "limited ballot" in your new county if your move has been within the last 90 days from the date of election. Voting using the limited ballot procedure may only be used during the early voting by personal appearance period at the main early voting location and when voting by mail, if you qualify to vote by mail (e.g., disabled, 65 years of age or older, absence from the county, or confined in jail). You may not vote a limited ballot on election day. Call the county clerk/elections administrator in your new county to find out if you are eligible for this voting procedure. You can find the number by going to: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/county.shtml and scrolling to your new county of residence.

    What is the deadline to request a ballot by mail? What procedures are available for voters going overseas?

    You may apply for a ballot by mail if you:
    1. will be away from your county on Election Day and during early voting;
    2. are sick or disabled;
    3. are 65 years of age or older on Election Day; or
    4. are confined in jail.

    Applications for a ballot by mail must be submitted to the early voting clerk on or after the 60th day before Election Day and before the close of business on the 7th day before Election Day. This is not a postmark date--the application must be in the hands of your early voting clerk by the 7th day before the election. (Note: You may fax the application to your early voting clerk if the clerk has a fax in his/her office and you are faxing from outside your county.) You may download an application from the web at: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/earlyvoting.shtml click on "Application for Ballot by Mail - Adobe PDF" and click on "County" for early voting clerk address. Be sure and read the instructions on the application carefully.

    For specific information about special voting procedures available for members of the military and U. S. citizens overseas, go to: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/militaryoverseas.shtml.
