Bobby Jindal Taller in Loss
‘I stand here before you
disappointed but not discouraged’
For Bobby Jindal, tough goals were easy to meet, the more difficult the challenge, the more sharpened his wits. So it must have been hard to walk into the Astro Crowne Plaza Hotel on Nov. 15 night and see the sea of disappointed faces of supporters who were convinced he would win, and concede defeat in the race for Louisiana Governor. “I stand here before you disappointed but not discouraged,” Jindal declared after the final tally that showed Lt. Gov. Kathleen Blanco had defeated him by 4 percent of votes.

Thanks for everything you did to help support us during this campaign. I look back with no regrets. I enjoyed meeting thousands of incredible people who invested in me their time, money, and ---- most importantly ---- their hopes and dreams. I wouldn’t change a thing
---- I am proud of the fact that we ran a positive, issues-oriented campaign. We came extremely close to winning and certainly surpassed everyone’s expectations. I am encouraged by the optimism and energy of the people I met across the state.
There are bright days ahead for the great people of the great state of Louisiana. We are taking the week to thank as many people as possible and to wrap up loose ends, and will then spend some time with family ---- appropriately during Thanksgiving ---- giving thanks for our many blessings. I truly believe that as one door closes, God another. We will decide what to do next after some time and prayer. Thanks again for your friendship.
-------- Bobby Jindal

He is a brilliant political scientist, but a few factors matter. But again getting 48 percent of vote ---- he is a big political force to reckon with. So maybe he should run for higher office.

I can say in general terms that we are here to make an impact and a person like Bobby Jindal should have won the election. It doesn’t mean we should give up hope because unless we fight and show our presence in the political scene we would not be counted. I think Bobby would have benefited, and we could have sent a delegation if we were more organized and help him run the campaign even better.

To a certain extent, the opposition used his (Jindal’s) age against him, and he lost some votes for that. He has very good chance and we as Indian American Republicans are going to push very hard to get him a cabinet position if President George W. Bush is re-elected. And he will continue to play strong politics in Louisiana.

He (Jindal) has gone up in my esteem and respect because he did not get involved in the negative campaigning. He is a man of high ideals. If everyone was like Bobby Jindal as far as campaign policies are concerned, the country would be better off.

I think it was a great effort on his part. He was a viable candidate and the Indian community which certainly seems to have backed him around the country. The lesson of entering mainstream politics is someone has to lose and someone has to win. We have a lot to be proud of in his candidacy.....

A lot of Indian Americans would support him because they would want an Indian American in office. He is very far away from where many Indian Americans are on social issues. I couldn’t support even his opponent (Democrat Kathleen Blanco), because she is anti-abortion.

We have made a big impact basically. Indian Americans have put forth a very talented candidate losing by a few percent in the “deep south.” It’s a big thing. He hasd opportunities for more youngsters to come forward and run for office.
