Billy Singh in 2004 annual Million Dollar Round table
PARK RIDGE, IL, JUNE 12-16 –– Manmohan ‘Billy’ Singh of Metropolitan Life in Roslyn, New York, earned the honor of attending the 2004 Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Annual Meeting held at Anaheim, CA, from June 12-16. The Honor Roll, which numbers more than 5,000, recognizes individuals who have earned membership in MDRT 15 or more times. Singh is a 17-year MDRT member. Indra Nooyi honored at Calvary Hospital’s 21st Annual Awards
MANHATTAN, NY, JUNE 15 –– Indra K. Nooyi, president and CFO of PepsiCo, was honored with the Calvary Medal in recognition of “her distinguished corporate and civic leadership” and PepsiCo’s support of Calvary Hospital and its mission at the hospital’s 21st Annual Awards Dinner Dance at The Plaza in Manhattan on June 15. LaSalle D. Leffall, Jr. MD, Chairman of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Charles R. Drew Professor of Surgery, Howard University College of Medicine, was honored with the Annie Blount Storrs Award “in tribute to his distinguished career in the care of cancer patients.” The evening’s proceeds was to benefit Calvary Hospital, a release said.
Al Roker was the emcee for the event and American tenor Daniel Rodriguez gave a special performance, it said. Amin reappointed to San Jose Senior Citizens Commission
SAN JOSE, CA, JUNE 14 –– The San Jose City Council has reappointed Surendra Amin to the Senior Citizens Commission for a 3-year term ending on June 30, 2007. A press release from San Jose Mayor Ron Gonzales said: “All of us in City Government appreciate your commitment to municipal service.” Amin has earlier served as Rent Commissioner and Traffic Appeal Commissioner, San Jose.

JAINA sponsors ‘Ahimsa’ center at California State Polytechnic University
POMONA, CA, JUNE 16 –– The Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA) recently pledged $25,000 and has become a Charter Sponsor of the Ahimsa Center at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. With the objective of ‘ahimsa in action and thought’ the Ahimsa Center will establish classes in ahimsa philosophy at the university, a release said.
