Venkatachalam is ‘Outstanding Researcher’

NEW HAMPSHIRE –– The University of New Hampshire (UNH) Whittemore School of Business and Economics named Dr. A.R. Venkatachalam “Outstanding Researcher” for his distinguished career in research. Venkatachalam has been teaching at UNH since 1992 and is now a professor of information systems and chairperson of the Decision Sciences Department at the institution.
His education extends back to India where he received a bachelor’s degree with honors in mechanical engineering from the University of Madras and did his Master’s in business administration from the Indian Institute of Management in Kolkata. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama after which he worked in the industry for five years as a corporate planning manager.
Dr. Venkatachalam pioneered the design and development of a procurement, marketing and communications network, PRO-Net, for the U.S. Small Business Administration.
He was a project leader for ACE-Net (Angel CapitalElectronic Network), an Internet-based angel capital network that brings together entrepreneurs seeking equity capital. He was also one of the leaders of a team that participated in a pilot study funded by the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), involving use of the Internet for transfer of defense technologies to the private sector.
According to a press release, Steven Bolander, dean of Whittemore School, confirmed that Dr. Venkatachalam’s demonstrated excellence at every level of his career was what sought him this ‘Outstanding Researcher’ award.
