Dr. Taj Rajkumar wins DSC Member seat in Queens, NY

Dr. Taj Rajkumar
Dr. Taj Rajkumar won the Democratic State Committee Member seat in the 31st Assembly District in Queens, NY, making him the first South Asian in the district with approximately 60 percent non-South Asian voters, according to a press release.

Dr. Rajkumar, a professor in the City University of New York, attributed his victory largely to the endorsement and hard work by his running partner, Assemblywoman Michele Titus.

The Queens Democratic Party and other South-east Queens elected representatives had also endorsed Dr. Rajkumar.

“This is indeed a new beginning that can only bring greater success to the 31st Assembly District. And when unity and representation are established at state level, community residents can expect to have a more powerful voice when it comes to advocacy for their issues and concerns,” the release quoted campaign manager Roop Persaud.
