New Jersey order bars subcontracting overseas

New Jersey Governor James E. McGreevey has said contractors doing work for the state will be barred from using subcontractors overseas. An executive order signed by the Governor requires contractors to detail where there employees work. The new order does not require the jobs to be kept in New Jersey but only in the United States, according to published reports. The executive order, however, allows the state treasurer to make exceptions if the work cannot be done by any other company and if it would cause “an economic hardship” to the state.
McGreevey said he was aware of some state contractors using foreign workers.
