Anish Shroff, 22, is one of the eight final contestants at the ‘Dream Job: The Search for the Next Sports Anchor,’ a television show hosted by Stuart Scott that airs every Tuesday on ESPN.
Each week, finalists hand-picked from 14 cities around the country are challenged with on-air tasks such as sideline reporting, anchoring, play-by-play, and one-on-one interviews with famous sports figures, stated the ‘Dream Job’ Web site.
Shroff’s “fresh style, wit, and energy to be the next SportsCenter anchor” was recognized immediately, bringing him to the final rounds of the show. Shroff recently graduated from Syracuse University where he majored in Communications and worked on the student radio station.
He applied and got selected after a series of tests, said his relative, Bankim Dalal. “He was nervous the first time but he’s getting used to it,” said Dalal. According to the Web site, “When Anish isn’t watching sports or curling up with a good book, you can find him tossing down strikes at the bowling alley or hitting the court with racket in hand.”
“He was interested in sports from the beginning,” said Dalal. Shroff lives with his father, Hitesh Shroff in Bloomfield, NJ.
