Arya is named president-elect of American Pharmacists Association

New York –– St. Johns University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, in Queens, NY, recently announced Vibhuti Arya as the president-elect of the American Pharmacists Association –– Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) for the year 2004-’05, confirmed a spokesperson from the university.
Arya will serve on the Student National Executive Committee of the association, which is recognized as the national professional society of pharmacists, founded in 1852. “The education and support I’ve received at St. John’s University has been fundamental in shaping my ability to assume this exciting new role,” said Arya. “It is an honor to serve my fellow student pharmacists while continuing to grow professionally.”
Arya will serve on the executive committee for two consecutive years, first year as president-elect and the second as the national president. She will also serve as a member of the APhA board of trustees and Honors Advisor Committee, as well as chairperson of the APhA-ASP Awards and Policy Standing Committees. She will take part in student outreach visits, preside over executive committee and Strategic Directions Committee meetings, as well as the APhA-ASPng general session and awards ceremony. “Vibhuti’s leadership capabilities and enthusiasm for the profession of pharmacy are extraordinary,” said Anne Burns, R.Ph., group director of practice development and research for the association. “As president-elect, student pharmacists nationwide will benefit from her leadership.”
