Anglo-Indian nominees

President A.P.J Abdul Kalam on Oct. 20 nominated Francis Fanthome and Ingrid McLeod to the Lok Sabha for seats reserved for the Anglo-Indian community.

Fanthome and MacLeod will represent the community in the lower house of Parliament, which has 543 elected representatives and two nominated members.

Educationist Fanthome is secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.

MacLeod was earlier nominated a member of the newly-created Chhattisgarh state assembly to represent the Anglo-Indian community and is believed to be close to the Congress party.
