Indo-Asian News Service

NEW DELHI : U.S. Ambassador David C. Mulford on Nov. 4 announced a grant of $25,000 for a Mumbai-based audio-visual archive of Indian culture.

The grant will be used by Surabhi Foundation For Research and Cultural Exchange to digitize its audio-visual recordings of 185 archaeological sites for preservation and accessibility, a statement from the U.S. embassy said here. The collection will be made accessible to the public via the Internet. The grant was made through the U.S. State Department’s Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation. “We are pleased to be able to cooperate with the Surabhi National Audio-Visual Archive as it moves ahead to preserve its wonderful videotape collection,” said Mulford, presenting the grant.
