Indo-Asian News Service
New York :Two Indian Americans have been named co-winners of the fifth Annual SAJA-Knowledge@Wharton Award for Business Journalism –– the first scholarships to be announced from among Asian American journalists’ associations.
Sudeep Reddy, energy reporter with The Dallas Morning News, and Krishnan Anantharaman, managing editor of The Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition, were joint winners of the scholarship that entitled them to attend the Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists.
For the first time this year, Wharton extended the scholarship to two journalists associations –– Asian American Journalists Association and South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA). Li Jing, a reporter, producer, and anchor for the Voice of America, won the 2004 annual AAJA-Knowledge@Wharton Award.
The journalists got scholarships to attend the Oct 24-28 seminar (a $1,495 value that covers tuition, materials and meals).
Knowledge@Wharton is the research and business analysis Web site of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mukul Pandya, editor, Knowledge@Wharton, said: “Knowledge@Wharton seeks to disseminate the knowledge behind the news, and the continuing support of the SAJA-Knowledge@Wharton award as well as the creation of similar awards for members of other organizations fits in well with this mission.”
Next year, Wharton plans to offer the scholarship to three journalists associations (National Association of Black Journalists, Native American Journalists Association and National Association of Hispanic Journa-lists.)
