Bharti’s Sunil Mittal honored with ‘Entrepreneur Of The Year’ award

New Delhi : Telecom giant Bharti Enterprises’ chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal was honored with Ernst and Young India’s ‘Entrepreneur Of The Year’ award on Nov. 1. Mittal, 46, who was selected for the award from among 20 finalists, is credited with creating a telecom giant that controls about 20 percent of the country’s telecommunications market. He will represent India at the Ernst and Young World Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards (WEOY) 2005 in Monte Carlo.

The Ernst and Young Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Bajaj Auto chairman and managing director Rahul Bajaj. The other winners were Kalanithi Maran of Sun TV (IT, telecommunications and entertainment), Narotam Sekhsaria of Gujarat Ambuja Cements (manufacturing), Subir Raha of Oil and Natural Gast Corporation (manager), Ramdas N. Pai of Manipal Education and Medical-Group (services), Ashish Dhawan of ChrysCapital (start-up) and Habil F. Khorakiwala of Wockhardt (health care).
