Narasimha Rao
NEW DELHI: Former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, who survived three cardiac arrests last week, was on Dec. 14 stated to be maintaining stable but fragile health.

Rao, 83, “miraculously” recovered on Dec. 13 after suffering a heart attack since being admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Dec. 10.

“He is maintaining reasonable health. Though he has come out of his worst crisis possible, we have to be gentle with him, considering his age and fragile health,” a doctor at AIIMS said. “We are planning certain investigations and tests in the days to come.”

Rao was taken off ventilator support on Dec. 13 and interacted with media briefly from his bed in the intensive care unit, saying he was “feeling much better.”
