Seema Singh appeals for relief funds for victims of tsunami disaster

N.J. Ratepayer Advocate Seema M. Singh, President of the Asian Indian Chamber of Commerce, appealed to Asians from South and Southeast Asia to come forward in this hour of terrible tragedy to help out in relief efforts for the victims of the Tsunami disaster.

The chamber is engaged in raising funds to ensure the mobilization of aid and the most effective channeling of funds to the disaster affected areas of India. It is also working in close cooperation with members of the Congress, State legislators and senior officials to disseminate information to the public on how they can contribute toward relief efforts. Among those who have come forward to support the chamber’s efforts are Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ), Congressman Rush Holt (D-NJ), Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein and Assemblyman Patrick Diegnan. A fund-raising event is also scheduled to be held at the Royal Albert’s Palace in Edison, NJ, on Jan. 19. The donations, made out to AICC/EBC Relief Fund, can be sent to the Asian Indian Chamber of Commerce, ITM Center, 6 Kilmer Road, Suite J, Edison, NJ 08817, or to EBC Radio 1680 AM, 456 Middlesex Avenue, Metuchen, NJ 08840.
