By Sanu George

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : A stage show by prominent movie artists of the Malayalam film industry and playback singers is to be held here in aid of the tsunami victims of Kerala.

Superstars Mohanlal, Mammootty, Suresh Gopi and a galaxy of other actors will participate in the show.

Leading playback singers K.J. Yesudas, Hariharan, S.P. Balasubramaniam, Jayachandran, Jassie Gift, K.S. Chitra, P. Susheela and Sujatha too will take part.

“The show will be held at the Nishagandhi auditorium and the entry charge will be Rs. 1,000 ($22) per person,” A.P. Anil Kumar, the State Minister of Culture, said on Jan. 6.

“We expect to collect a minimum of Rs. 5 million ($111,111) and this will go to the Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund,” he said.

Speaking to Indo-Asian News Service, M.K. Vivekanandan, secretary of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, said the event was being jointly organized by the academy and the Trivandrum Film Fraternity, a no-profit organization of producers and directors.

“The response has been tremendous and we would be able to raise more money than our expectations,” said Vivekanandan.
