Outsourcing
‘9th International Outsourcing of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Conference’
By M. Chooki
India will be one of the four countries under focus for outsourcing of pre-clinical medicinal and process chemistry at a major conference in New Jersey.
The ‘9th International Outsourcing of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pre-Clinical Development & Custom Manufacturing,’ scheduled to take place this coming July, will consider outsourcing being offered by the United States, India, China and Russia.
Among the Indian companies scheduled to present to date include BioArc Research Solutions, Jubilant Biosys, Proximare and GVK Biosciences. Chinese companies include SynChem and from Russia, ChemBridge.
According to Strategic Research Institute, competition among the globalized chemistry marketplace has reached “a new crescendo in 2005 as many companies across the world compete on quality, price, turnaround time, and IP concerns.”
The meeting is heavily focused on early discovery outsourcing in 2005 with presentations from GSK (Early Phase Drug Discovery-Outsourcing Options) and Pfizer (Discovery Chemistry Sourcing: Risk & Risk Mitigation Strategies) kicking off that section.
“The agenda is considerably broader than medicinal chemistry, and includes process research and development and bulk actives, as well as a menagerie of other topics such as custom synthesis, other fine chemicals, libraries/building blocks, lead optimization, assay development, and custom manufacturing,” the institute said.
