The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences announced on April 12 that Kang & Lee Advertising’s web site (www.kanglee.com), the online destination for information about Asian American marketing, has been honored as ‘Webby Worthy’ in the 9th ‘Annual Webby Awards Competition.’ The Webby Award Competition — often referred to as the ‘Oscars of the Internet’ — recognizes the best web sites and the teams that develop them, a press release said.
According to the academy, the ‘Webby Worthy’ designation highlights web sites that demonstrate a high standard of excellence and an ‘outstanding caliber of work.’ The Kang & Lee Advertising web site shares the ‘Webby Worthy’ honor with other leading sites, including www.cnn.com; www.disney.com, www.etrade.com; www.fox.com, www.chrysler.com; www.forbes.com; www.kraftfoods.com; www.hbo.com; www.esteelauder.com; www.lincoln.com; www.pbs.org and www.SBC.com.
Cynthia Park, executive vice-president and managing director, Kang & Lee, was quoted in the release as saying that “as far as we know, this is the first time in the history of the Webby Awards that an Asian American multicultural agency web site has been recognized for excellence. This is a tremendous honor for our entire organization.”
Kang & Lee was one of the first companies in the Asian multicultural marketing industry to launch a web site in the mid-90s. Last year, following a complete re-design, the agency’s new site was re-launched on July 2, 2004. Among the many innovations introduced on the new Kang & Lee web site, visitors can register for free on the ‘Asian American Market’ page to download lengthy profiles of the Asian American consumer market and the Asian American media environment. The site’s ‘Breaking News’ section is also new, and offers constantly-updated news, commentary, and insights about the latest Asian American population statistics and consumer research.
Headquartered in New York City, Kang & Lee’s current roster of clients include AT&T, Allstate Insurance, The New York Times, U.S. Dept. of the Treasury, HSBC, Sears and The NBA, the release added.
