CIVIL RIGHTS
Muslim Unity Forum by New York Commission
The New York City Commission on Human Rights was scheduled to co-host a Muslim Unity Forum at the Muslim American Society at Bath Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y. on May 13.
Several other organizations, such as the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, American Muslim Law Enforcement Officers Association, Council of Pakistan Organization, Islamic Society of the New York City Fire Department, the Muslim American Society, NY Muslim Bar Association and The Arab-American Family Support Center, announced their participation in the event.
The program was to feature subjects such as the Role of Muslims in American Society, Immigrant Employment Rights, and Your Right to City Services (representatives from city agencies NYPD, Health, Social Services, and Education were also to participate in the consideration of this subject).
The Muslim Unity Forum grew out of a survey on discrimination and its report, titled ‘Discrimination Against Muslims, Arabs and South Asians in NYC Since 9/11’ – conducted by the Commission on Human Rights.
