Zahan Mistry is a third year student at the State University of New York at Geneseo, where he majors in Political Science with an emphasis in Middle East Politics. His family lives in Albany, New York. Zahan was born in Bombay, India, and recently became a citizen of the United States of America. He speaks Hindi and Gujrati fluently, and plans on learning Farsi. Zahan will intern with the Indian American Center for Political Awareness this summer. He volunteers on a regular basis at the Solid Rock Community Church, and at The International Center in Albany, where he served as an aid to an English Teacher. He enjoys working on computers and programs such as AutoCAD, and is an active participant in intramural sports at school. He is a member of the Political Science Club at SUNY Geneseo, and is working to develop an Eastern Europe Club.
In Washington, Zahan hopes to understand the details be-hind the lobbying process, and the structure of our nation’s government. He plans on attending graduate school to further his studies in the Middle East and pursue a future in International Politics.
Interning with Homeland Security

Renu Shah, daughter of Mamta and Piyush Shah, is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She is a rising junior at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where she is an International Relations major. Renu will be interning for the Committee on Homeland Security this summer.
She graduated from Manheim Township High School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, vice-president of the National Honor Society, member of the quiz bowl team, and an active volunteer. At the College of William & Mary, Renu writes for the school newspaper, the Flat Hat. She is also an active sister of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. As the Pennsylvania recipient of the Japan-U.S. Senate Exchange scholarship through Youth For Understanding, she spent a summer as an exchange student in Osaka, Japan. For the past two summers, Renu has interned for Pennsylvania State Representative Mike Sturla (/spacer.gif). She also served as a volunteer on Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell’s 2002 gubernatorial campaign. This upcoming fall semester, she will be studying in the Junior Program in European Culture & Society at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium.
