INS
Arrests 40 Programmmers in
Raid
On
January 20, 2000, the INS conducted a worksite raid of
the Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and
arrested 40 Indian computer programmers working on H1-B
visas. The purpose of the raid was to uncover a "visa
scam," however, the end result was public humiliation,
mistreatment, and denial of fundamental civil liberties
of Indian nationals whose only offense was coming into
work that morning.
